Shetek Area Water and Sewer Commission Minutes from the August 20, 2002 Meeting 

 Commission Members Present: Dean McDaniel, Corny Smit, John McClure, Le Roy Biren, Harold Graphenteen, Rick Clark, Delores Sell,  Dave Van Meveren, John Mahrt 

Commission Members Absent:  None 

Support Staff Present: Chris Hansen – Murray County Water Resources Administrator, Karen Onken – Murray County Zoning Administrator, Chuck Schwartz – Bonestroo & Associates

 Agenda Items: 

Minutes from the previous meeting (7/23/02) were read.

  → Motion (02-08-20a) A motion by Cornelius Smit, second by Rick Clark was supported by all members to approve the minutes as read.

The budget was read, a balance of $14,901.64 is currently in the checking account.  An invoice from Bonestroo & Associates was received for $2,055.50 for 4 meetings and 13.5 hours of registered engineer work. 

  → Motion (02-08-20b) A motion by John McClure, second by Cornelius Smit to approve the payment of the $2,055.50 to Bonestroo & Associates.

A discussion how the informational meeting will run and the setup of speakers took place.  Karen stated if the project does not move forward management and regulations will still need to be in place.  Because of all the different situations around the lake, a central organization should have to manage each individual system to ensure compliance. 

More discussion on the sewer project.

The SAWSC is basically the entity set up to run this type of management.

The next meeting date was set for August 24, 2002 at 10 a.m., which will be a public informational meeting that will be held at the Shetek Lutheran Bible Camp.  A meeting will be held the following Monday the 26^th at 3 p.m. to discuss what went on at the public informational meeting.
