PROCEEDINGS OF THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD OF APPEAL AND EQUALIZATION
Pursuant to law as fixed by Minnesota Statute Nos. 274.13 and 274.14, the Murray County Board of Appeal and Equalization met with the following members present: Commissioners Robert Moline, Gerald Magnus, Kevin Vickerman and William J. Sauer. Commissioner John Giese was absent. Also present were Heidi Winter, County Auditor/Treasurer, Marcy Barritt, County Assessor, Kim Scott, Deputy County Assessor and Paul Malone, County Attorney.
After taking oath as to its duties of equalizing all real estate and personal property assessments located within the County of Murray, the said Board then proceeded with its business.
The Board members previously received a list of taxpayers eligible for county board of appeal and equalization from the County Assessor.
The following is a list of persons who appeared before the Board of Appeal and Equalization, along with the parcel number of the property appealed:
Name Parcel No.
Nancy Snedeker appeared before the Board to appeal the valuation of Parcel Number 11.171.011.0. She requested that the 2008 estimated market value of $282,300 be reduced to $273,000, an amount from a recent appraisal.
Josephine Morin appeared before the Board to appeal the valuation of Parcel Number 29.100.025.0. A letter written by Richard Morin was presented to the Board stating that the property value increased 11% to 42,900 which did not seem reasonable due to significant drops in housing values nationwide.
It was moved by Gerald Magnus, seconded by Robert Moline, and passed to reduce the 2008 Estimated Market Value of Parcel Number 29.100.025.0 to $41,400.
Donald Haubrich appeared before the Board to appeal the valuation of his property for parcel numbers 15.120.005.0, 15.120.005.1, and 15.120.006.0. Mr. Haubrich distributed photographs of a generator and lift station for the Lake Shetek Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project installed across the road from his home. He stated that the location of the equipment has decreased the value of his property.
It was moved by Robert Moline, seconded by Gerald Magnus, and passed to leave the valuation of Parcel Numbers 15.120.005.0, 15.120.005.1 and 15.120.006.0 unchanged for 2008.
The Board indicated that they will set a special meeting between the Shetek Area Water and Sewer District Board and Murray County Board of Commissioners to discuss the lift stations and invite Mr. Haubrich to attend.
