PROCEEDINGS OF THE MURRAY COUNTY BOARD OF APPEAL AND EQUALIZATION Pursuant to law as fixed by Minnesota Statute Nos. 274.13 and 274.14, the Murray County Board of Appeal and Equalization met with the following members present: Commissioners Robert Moline, Gerald Magnus, Kevin Vickerman and William J. Sauer. Commissioner John Giese was absent. Also present were Heidi Winter, County Auditor/Treasurer, Marcy Barritt, County Assessor, Kim Scott, Deputy County Assessor and Paul Malone, County Attorney. After taking oath as to its duties of equalizing all real estate and personal property assessments located within the County of Murray, the said Board then proceeded with its business. The Board members previously received a list of taxpayers eligible for county board of appeal and equalization from the County Assessor. The following is a list of persons who appeared before the Board of Appeal and Equalization, along with the parcel number of the property appealed:

Nancy Snedeker appeared before the Board to appeal the valuation of Parcel Number 11.171.011.0. She requested that the 2008 estimated market value of $282,300 be reduced to $273,000, an amount from a recent appraisal. Josephine Morin appeared before the Board to appeal the valuation of Parcel Number 29.100.025.0. A letter written by Richard Morin was presented to the Board stating that the property value increased 11% to 42,900 which did not seem reasonable due to significant drops in housing values nationwide. It was moved by Gerald Magnus, seconded by Robert Moline, and passed to reduce the 2008 Estimated Market Value of Parcel Number 29.100.025.0 to $41,400. Donald Haubrich appeared before the Board to appeal the valuation of his property for parcel numbers 15.120.005.0, 15.120.005.1, and 15.120.006.0. Mr. Haubrich distributed photographs of a generator and lift station for the Lake Shetek Sanitary Sewer Improvement Project installed across the road from his home. He stated that the location of the equipment has decreased the value of his property. It was moved by Robert Moline, seconded by Gerald Magnus, and passed to leave the valuation of Parcel Numbers 15.120.005.0, 15.120.005.1 and 15.120.006.0 unchanged for 2008. The Board indicated that they will set a special meeting between the Shetek Area Water and Sewer District Board and Murray County Board of Commissioners to discuss the lift stations and invite Mr. Haubrich to attend. Douglas Anderson met with the Board on behalf of the Slayton Gun Club and requested that the value of the property for parcel numbers 18.032.011.0 be reduced to less than $500 to allow the club to place a camper on the site within the parameters of the Murray County Ordinance. It was moved by William J. Sauer, seconded by Gerald Magnus, and passed to reduce the 2008 Estimated Market Value of Parcel Number 18.032.011.0 to $449.00. The following taxpayers sent letters to be presented before the Board on their behalf.
Name Parcel No. County Assessor, Marcy Barritt, presented a request from Glen & Barbara Bouma to adjust the 2008 Estimated Market Value for Parcel Number 11.180.024.0 to $238,800. It was moved by Gerald Magnus, seconded by William J. Sauer, and passed to leave the valuation of Parcel Number 11.180.024.0 unchanged for 2008. Ms. Barritt also presented a recommendation to grant an abatement for Parcel Number 29.590.005.0 to Wayne McDonald due to an incorrect measurement of the home resulting in an incorrect valuation.
It was moved by William J. Sauer, seconded by Robert Moline, and passed to grant an abatement of $263.00 for Parcel Number 29.590.005.0 to Wayne McDonald as follows:
