The Murray County Agricultural Society is planning its Annual Vintage Tractor and Small Engine Display for the 2010 Murray County Fair, August 17 - 22, 2010.  The Fair has expanded this year to include a Threshing and Field Demonstration area.    We are looking for any vintage equipment that can grind, muck, shuck or make something.

We are looking for a variety of makes and models to make the display as interesting to the public.    Bring your restored or un-restored tractors, we would love to see them all.    In celebration of 100 years of the Murray County Fair, we would like to host at least 100 tractors and/or equipment on the grounds!

This year, Ernie Engelkes has generously offered his property off of U.S. Highway 59 as the demonstration and display area for the vintage equipment.    This location, just outside of Slayton, will make a nice focal point to showcase the equipment.   He has planted oats which can be harvested, threshed and then plowed with vintage equipment.

We would like to have the tractors/equipment on display by 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday, August 17, and left in place until late afternoon on Sunday, August 22.   If this is not possible, other arrangements can be made.  If assistance is needed in transporting the equipment, indicate that on the information form.

The Prairie Days Parade is being held on Saturday, August 21, at 11:00 a.m. in Slayton (please note the time change).  The parade coordinators would like these tractors to be a part of the parade.  Please indicate if you would be willing to enter your tractor(s) in this event.

The threshing, plowing and field demonstrations will be held on Sunday, August 22nd.    We hope to sponsor many activities that will focus on our agricultural origins.  New traditions are being made but farm life remains our core. Let’s put on a great show.
