Solar Energy Press Release

Murray County Cover Letter

You are invited to participate in a series of upcoming community engagement sessions pertaining to recently completed research in your county.

Murray County has been working closely with the University of Minnesota to identify the community-determined ideal locations for future solar developments which take into consideration local benefits to water quality, wildlife habitat and the economy.

From the community input and feedback received in a series of three solar energy input sessions held on December 1st, 7th and 10th, 2020, an interactive and downloadable mapping tool was created to better assist Murray County in its future solar energy decision making. A StoryMap  which explains in detail this project can be found at  this link . A link to the completed Murray County Mapping Tool can be found  here .

We invite you to participate in ONE of three upcoming virtual meetings to learn more about these recently completed mapping tools and how they may benefit Murray County.

These meetings will take place on the following dates and times:

  • Friday, June 11th, from 9:30-10:45AM
  • Tuesday, June 22nd from 2:30-3:45PM
  • Wednesday, June 23rd from 2:30-3:45PM

To register for one of these events, or to receive additional information on this project more generally, please contact George Masson at masso035@umn.edu.

We hope to see you soon!
