HomeHelpMN helps eligible homeowners who have fallen behind on housing-related expenses due to the pandemic with up to $50,000 in financial assistance. Homeowners should apply as soon as they become past due.   

HomeHelpMN may be able to assist with past-due payments for: 

  • Property taxes
  • Mortgage
  • Contract for deed
  • Tribal land lease 
  • Manufactured home loan
  • Lot rent 
  • Homeowner insurance
  • Homeowner association fees

Funds are paid directly to the debt holder, mortgage servicer or county. Funds do not need to be paid back.

Qualified Financial Hardship include  

Reduction of Income: Temporary or permanent loss of income after January 21, 2020, related to the coronavirus pandemic 

Increase in Living Expenses: Increase in household expenses after January 21, 2020, directly related to the coronavirus pandemic 

Second time applicants 
If a homeowner already received HomeHelpMN assistance, they may be eligible for additional assistance. If they are experiencing another (or ongoing) COVID-19 related financial hardship, they can submit a new application. The total of all applications cannot exceed $50,000.

Funds are limited, so homeowners should apply as soon as possible. Homeowners interested in the program should visit the HomeHelpMN website or call us at 1.800.388.3226.  Call Center agents are available Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. – 6 p.m. CST.
