County Administrator
Murray County is taking applications for a regular full-time County Administrator. Normal hours of work are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.

This is a responsible supervisory position that involves the administering of the County’s mission and programs, including planning, organizing, developing, implementing, budgeting, coordinating and directing.  This position serves as the agent of the Board and carries the primary responsibility for employee relations.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of master’s degree with Human Resources, Public Administration, Personnel Management or related field and at least 5 years of experience; or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge and abilities for this position. Valid Driver’s License required.

Requirements: Must be able to work independently and can develop and maintain effective working relationships with the County Board, employees, supervisors, other agencies and the public; to make impartial decisions regarding personnel issues, and to respect and maintain confidentiality. considering Department objectives; Must have experience in general human resources functions such as: policy development, benefits administration, labor relations, compensation administration, recruitment, and performance management; Must be responsible to handle confidential/sensitive information; Must have effective communication skills to affect the overall organization, including influencing the work environment of the County and the overall customer service level for the public.

General Assistant
Murray County is accepting applications for a regular full time General Assistant. Normal hours of work are Monday through Friday 8:00 am to 4:30 pm.

This position performs clerical, accounting, and administrative assignments to support the County Board, County Administrator, and Human Resource Director. This position provides a comprehensive range of office support services and perform related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:  Associates Degree and two years of experience, or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that provides the requisite knowledge, skills and abilities for this position.  

Requirements: Extensive computer knowledge including use of all Microsoft Office products and proficient typing skills; Aptitude to read a variety of professional, technical and administrative documentation, directions, regulations, instructions, methods and procedures; Skills to produce reports with proper format, punctuation, spelling and grammar, using all parts of speech; Must be able to work with others in a team environment and to communicate effectively with members of the public, and officials or employees from other organizations and departments; Ability and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and make non-routine decisions within established precedents considering department objectives; Ability to communicate with people to convey or exchange professional information, identify issues, negotiate and settle differences; ability to handle unpredictable situations in public dealings in a manner which represents Murray County in a positive fashion; Ability to maintain a high degree of confidentiality; Valid MN Driver’s License.

Deputy Sheriff
Murray County is taking applications for a full-time Deputy Sheriff.  Hours are a combination of days, nights, weekends, and holidays.                             

Position opened until filled. 

The purpose of this position is to protect life and property in Murray County and to enforce City Ordinances, County, State and Federal Laws. Duties include but are not limited to investigating criminal activity; interviewing victims, interrogating suspects; writing reports; responding to accidents; civil process; prisoner transport; evidence collection; serving warrants; executing of court orders; responding to law enforcement related calls and assist the County Sheriff.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a High School diploma/GED and two-year degree in law enforcement or related field.

Requirements: Must be licensed by the Minnesota Peace Officers Standards and Training Board and attend at least 48 hours continuing education every three years; Valid MN Driver’s License; Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations; Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals; Ability to use leadership skills, to verbalize orders/commands so that the public and staff understand exactly what is being said and expected; Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals; Must have received Bureau of Criminal Apprehension CJIS certification within one year of date of hire.

Seasonal Museum Assistant
Murray County is accepting applications for seasonal Museum Assistants. Weekly work hours will vary with an average of up to 35 hours per week. Work on weekends and holidays will be required.

Position open until filled. 

Duties include:
Conduct educational guided tours to the visitors about End-O-Line Park and Murray Counties history. Assist with events at the museums. Assist with gift shop sales and inventory, use of cash register and credit card machine. Maintain the upkeep of the park buildings, grounds, restrooms.

Qualifications: Requires the ability to learn and relay history information on tourist attractions in the area. Must have good interpersonal skills and the ability to speak publicly to all age groups.  Basic mathematical skills necessary. Must be able to work on weekends and holidays as required. Valid MN driver’s license required.

Salary: $13.50 per hour
