Environmental Services Specialist 
Murray County is taking applications for a full-time Environmental Services Specialist. Hours are Monday through Friday.
Position open until filled, first review of applications will be March 16, 2021. Applicants must complete a county application.

This position performs clerical, accounting, and administrative assignments to support Planning and Zoning, Demolition Landfill, Tri-County Recycling, Household Hazardous Waste, Feedlots and all areas of the Environmental Services Office.  This position provides overall office coordination and administrative assistance to entire department and is responsible for customer service response to contractors, developers, property owners, feedlot operators and public. 
Duties include but not limited to:
  • Assist Zoning/Environmental Administrator
  • Assists Ag and Solid Waste Administrator
  • Perform Department Clerical Needs
  • Assists with the Aquatic Invasive Species (AIS) Program
  • Approve the design and inspection of individual sewage treatment systems
Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a High School diploma/GED and an associate degree, or any equivalent combination of education, training and experience which provides the requisite knowledge and abilities for this position. Valid MN Driver’s License.

Preferred Qualifications: Associates Degree in Environmental Science.

Regular Part-Time Dispatcher/Jailer
Murray County is taking applications for a regular part time Dispatcher/Jailer. Variety of rotating shifts including nights, weekends and holidays.

Duties include: This purpose of this position is to answer 911 calls and dispatch responding units (Law, Fire, EMS and First Responders) with accurate and timely information via the paging system and ARMER radio. This position exercises independent judgement in transmitting law enforcement information and responding to inquiries, complaints, and requests for emergency and non-emergency calls for service. This position assumes responsibility of prisoners brought into Murray County holding cell and record all actions taken by prisoner and arresting order.

Minimum Qualifications: Minimum of a High School diploma/GED and valid Minnesota Driver’s License.
Desired Qualifications: One year of experience in 911 center and bi-lingual skills in English and Spanish.   
Requirements: Ability to analyze emergency calls and respond to the call calmly, quickly and accurately; Ability to use a dispatch radio to communicate effectively presenting information clearly and accurately; Ability to read, write and speak English and ability to listen to and follow instructions; Ability to ask specific questions to get results; Must be able to make decisions quickly and meet deadlines.

Economic Development Coordinator
Murray County is accepting applications for a regular part-time Economic Development Coordinator. Normal work hours are 30 hours per week.

Duties include: This purpose of this position is to manage economic development activities throughout Murray County, which include promoting the County as a good place to do business, serving as a resource for businesses looking to start, expand or relocate to Murray County and managing the Murray County Economic Development Authority.
Minimum Qualifications: High School Diploma/GED, an associate’s degree and two years’ experience, or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience which provides the requisite knowledge and abilities for this position. Valid driver’s License.
Requirements: Ability to read, analyze and interpret private and public financial reports, state and federal statutes and regulations, and legal documents; self-motivated and performance of various tasks independently; ability to work with others in a consulting capacity, and the ability to maintain effective working relationships with other employees, civic and community groups, public and private organizations, and public; must have effective communications, be able to interact to negotiate important agreements or elicit desired behaviors; and/or the ability to engender trust of diverse audiences; must be able to formulate strategic direction; must be able to solve very complex technical or strategic problems and can apply new approaches or alternatives.
