Leeds Township History

106N R42W
Organized April 6,1873

Leeds is located in the west, third tier of Murray County. Slayton township borders its east side, Fenton Township the south, Chanarambie on the west, and Lowville on the north. Most of the early settlers in Leeds Township came from Fillmore County and from eastern Minnesota.

The Currie Pioneer on February 14, 1878, described the families in Leeds Township as a sturdy class of pioneers, determined to make the home of their adoption a credit to any country and one, which they will not fail to improve with the times. Its lands are well adapted for stock and grain raising. Beaver Creek flows through this township.

Hadley is located in Leeds Township on the banks of Summit Lake.
